Privacy Policy
Effective date: 20 July 2026
1500 Words is a Spanish vocabulary app. It was built to work entirely on your own device, with no account to create and no server to talk to. This policy explains, in plain language, what the app does and does not do with your information.
The short version
- 1500 Words has no account and no login. You never give us your name, email, or any personal details to use the app.
- We do not collect, store, see, sell, or share your data. There is no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and no third-party SDKs in the app.
- The app has no internet connection. It contains no networking code at all. Nothing you do in 1500 Words is sent anywhere.
- Your progress stays yours. The words you have learned and your study history are stored on your device.
Information 1500 Words does not collect
The app has no backend, and we (the developer) receive no information about you or your use of it. Specifically, 1500 Words does not collect or transmit to us:
- Names, email addresses, phone numbers, or other contact details.
- Account credentials. There are no accounts.
- Location data.
- Advertising identifiers, or any cross-app or cross-site tracking identifiers.
- Usage analytics, behavioural data, or crash logs sent to us.
- Contacts, photos, camera, microphone, or health data. The app never asks for access to any of these, because it does not use them.
There are no analytics, advertising, or tracking frameworks of any kind in the app, and no third-party code libraries.
Information that stays on your device
To do its job, 1500 Words stores the following locally, in the app's private storage on your device:
- Which words you know, and when each is next due for review, so the spaced-repetition schedule works.
- A learning weight for each word, so words you find harder come round more often.
- Your Focus List, the words you have chosen to concentrate on.
- Daily study activity, being the date and a count of words studied and learned, which produces your streak and progress charts.
- Small app preferences, such as your chosen word pack, your appearance setting, whether you have seen the gesture guide, and which word packs you have purchased.
This information is used solely to run your lessons and show your progress. It never leaves your device.
Device backups
1500 Words does not use iCloud sync and does not have its own cloud storage.
If you have iCloud Backup or encrypted local backups switched on for your device, iOS may include the app's data in those backups, in the same way it does for other apps. That is a feature of your device and your Apple account, not something the app sends or controls, and we have no access to it.
Purchases
Additional word packs are one-time purchases handled entirely by Apple's App Store. We never see or receive your payment details, card numbers, or billing address. The app stores only a local record of which packs you own, so it knows what to unlock. Restoring purchases asks the App Store to confirm what your Apple Account has already bought.
Daily reminder (optional)
If you turn on the daily practice reminder, the app schedules a local notification on your device at the time you choose. It is created and delivered by your device. There is no push server, nothing is sent over the internet, and you can turn it off at any time in the app or in iOS Settings.
Speech
Tapping the speaker button reads a word aloud using the speech feature built into iOS. The audio is produced by your device. The app does not record audio, does not use the microphone, and does not send anything you tap to us.
The Word of the Day widget
The home-screen widget shows one word a day from the free starter word list that ships inside the app. It reads nothing about you, stores nothing, and makes no network requests.
Children
1500 Words is suitable for all ages and collects no personal information from anyone, including children. There is no advertising, no tracking, and no way to contact other people through the app.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Because the app collects no data, we do not expect substantive changes, and any that do occur will be described here.
